Designed by a sensory mom who gets it

I wanted to start the day without the struggle and tantrums; that’s all I wanted, but every time it came to pulling something over my child’s head, it was a struggle. The struggle ended with either red marks on his forehead, ears that hurt, or a screaming child, and sometimes it was all of the above. My son Elliott was, and still is, a BIG kid, and absolutely nothing fit over his head without some tugging and yanking involved.

When Elliott turned 2, I became a single mom, having to navigate not only the struggle of parenting on my own, but navigating my son’s own unique needs. To say I was overwhelmed was an understatement. I took the next 2 years to focus on changing areas of my life that I had control over and slowly started to see improvement, but the one thing I never solved was the clothing battles, so I created Ottie Kids. Starting a business when you already have a full-time job plus parenting on your shoulders is DAUNTING, but I truly believe in the solution, and I want every kid to experience joy when putting on a sweatshirt. With so much going on in our lives, dressing your child should be the easiest part of your day.

our name

Ottie kids is crafted with Elliott (my son) and Lottie (my niece) in mind. My son navigates the world with a unique set of sensory experiences and both children were helmet babies and in the 99% percentile for length and weight. So creating this brand with them in mind, I combined the last 3 letters of both their names to create Ottie Kids.

Fun fact, we almost went with MoonHead because our kids’ heads are so big.
